Coagulation Reagents and Controls

REAGENTS
* Decades experience in formulating thromboplastin for PT
* Experience and success from obtaing raw rabbit brains to making brain powder
* Rabbit brain powder to high quality thromboplastin- many years success
* INR Calibration- Mr. Hill was responsible for Coagucheck INR calibration- World Standard tilt tube expertise
* Years of experience with Coag instruments – Effect on INR accuracy- Dade Auto-Fi-, Fibrometer, KC4, Dupont centrifugal analyzer and MLA detection instruments- experience with raw data- algorithm and clot detection analysis- initial instrumentation development by providing biological stable reagents/plasma controls for development of precision/accuracy
* Developed only successful aPTT fingerstick system to date- Biotrak/Ciba Corning/CoaguCheck Pro aPTT
60 sec one step aPTT normal fingerstick value- done in Silicon Valley, Calif, 1988
* After 11 years at Dade, experience was gained with FDP Latex agglutination kit, platelet aggregation kit,
fresh cell hemotology calibrators and combined thromboplastin (adsorbed bovine plasma + thromboplastin)
* Recent success in formulating platelet aggregation reagents, TRAP, ADP and Arachodonic Acid for Multiplate in Munich.
* Worked with collagen, sourcing and formulating- for platelet aggregation
* Formulated Ecarin Clotting Time reagent-

labor3CONTROLS
* Begins with blood drawing techniques
* How to access human blood sources
* How to access animal blood sources
* Blood centrifugation – knowledge of centrifuges and rotors
* Separation of plasma and platelets from blood cells
* Anticoagulants specifically for desired products
* Freezing and thawing plasmas
* Pooled plasmas VS Single donors- boot strapping statistical analysis for determining minimum number of donors for a stable pool for long term precise target values
* Lyophilization cycles- optimized for best performance- decades of experience
* Siliconized vials- What do you really need? Where to find the vials
* Fixed blood cells needed in a control? Developed Biotrak Controls with blood cells in 1986- patents expired “Whole Blood Control Sample”  US 473133OA   Filing date July 1, 1986
* Help with shortening PT or aPTT for normal controls- hands on experience with non mammalian blood products
* Abnormal controls of highest quality- set target values with high precision and stability

DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTS HERE IN GERMANY
QCDC has ties to a developmental lab in Munich, Germany. In the case that a customer wishes to have a product developed or experiments conducted outside of their company, it would be possible for QCDC to facilitate such development with the help of another company with the necessary facilities. Although QCDC is a consulting company without a laboratory, it would be plausible to expect that a cooperative agreement be reached which would enable the quick development of a particular product to be accomplished here in Bavaria, Germany.
